AmanaJam is a wonderful weekend of bluegrass jamming designed to help both the intermediate and beginning jammers become more at ease in the jamming environment. The primary emphasis of AmanaJam is fun. Bring an instrument and expect to play. Rhythm, timing, chords, transitions, singing, jamming etiquette, practice techniques and stage presence will all be discussed.
The professional staff members at AmanaJam are interested in helping all students become comfortable jamming. Group size will be limited and everyone will participate in each session.
The camp will be held in the historic Amana Colonies, located southwest of Cedar Rapids, and west of Iowa City, Iowa on February 21-February 24, 2008. The Amana Colonies is one of the premiere family tourist attractions in Iowa. Friends and family of AmanaJammers will have plenty of things to do and see while jamming is in session. Visit the Amana Colonies website to learn more about handcrafted vacations in the Amanas.
AmanaJammers can stay at either the Colony Oaks condominiums located at the Amana Colonies Golf Club, or at the Guest House Motel in Main Amana.
Many Blue Grass Camps and Jam Camps have their guests say in old dorms and share bathhouses, but AmanaJam is different. The accommodations at AmanaJam are first class--everyone has a great bed, privacy is available, the food is fantastic, and you can stay up jamming all night long.
Registration fees include accommodations, Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, a reception Thursday night, all meals, and a ticket to the Old Creamery Theatre's Bluegrass Jam show featuring your instructors, "The Iowa City Jammers".
If you come, bring an instrument or two. If you can't come, send a friend.
